Affliction

Darkness begins to fade
My body starts to wake
As the strength has failed me
Conscience begins to evade

Thoughts are a wonder
Yet it has blundered
Can't seem to grasp
What must be asked

It's too late now
To stop this cycle
The question is how
To hasten this trial

My eyes cannot see
My legs are not limber
It has come to this finale
My body desires slumber

My tongue craves wine
My heart longs for touch
I have no time
And there isn't much

The day bids goodbye
The affliction is ending
The muster a soft sigh
For I am mending
