Stygian Metamorphosis

Long ago, there was once a boy
Who was timid
This young man, tall and solid
Lacked real joy

Time passed and the young man transformed
A pauper turned prince
He was well formed
All who looked upon him could not resist
I was a close companion and bare witnessed

Soft spoken and very seductive
Joy, happiness, love, and popularity
A life so productive
The prince had it all
Then one day
He had an atrocious fall

Time passed once again
The prince had vanished
No one knew of his whereabouts
The prince was finished

Time had taken a toll on the prince
Again he had changed
A darkness had enveloped him
And the prince became derranged

I saw the prince recently
I could not believe my eyes
The prince had become a beast
It couldn't be, must be a lie

Fair to Darkness
Cleanliness to Filth
Warmth to Cold
Tenderness to Stone...

Time had stolen decades from the prince
Hair matted with filth
Eyes sunken with black rings
Had the prince filled his heart with guilt?
He now was not fit to be amongst kings

The cause of his transition is a mystery
It's truly a sad tale
For we had so much history
It is clear
The prince lives in misery
He chooses to walk alone
For whatever reason
The truth will be unknown

  1. This is just a thought, but don't be afraid to use musician's pictures/screen caps from like music videos as well to use as 'imagery' for your writings. A lot of bloggers often use what is already available to get their point across .Can't help but think of the Enjoy the Silence music video for this one...

Actually, I would recommend as well to have music or music videos going to further the writing process. But you can also insert 'tags' into your post, like the musician's name or you could write what you are currently listening to. Tags will help you get views and it's easier for you or anyone to find your work

  2. That's funny that you mentioned that because I was considering to share what type of music that I was listening to during the time of a particular entry. For this one in particular, I was actually listening to David Bowie's "Heart's Filthy Lesson." I thought of adding such details like little foot notes.
